Storing complete rock cores Rock plastic core box for geological exploration tools
Core box is special storage container for rock core samples obtained from geological drilling. It is widely used to store and classify core samples by depth and lithology, an essential disposable & reusable consumable for mineral exploration, geotechnical survey, geothermal drilling and tunnel construction projects.
We supply PVC and thickened ABS core boxes, fully compatible with BQ/NQ/HQ/PQ DCDMA standard wireline coring sizes. Standard single length reaches 1 meter, connectable and stackable, with outstanding impact resistance, waterproof and anti-corrosion performance for field and lab long-term core storage.
Description
The core Tray (Core Box) is a specialized storage and collection tool for geological drilling projects. It is used to hold and store the complete core samples extracted during drilling, clearly recording the depth of the strata, rock properties, and sampling layers. It is an essential consumable for standardized sampling and archiving in mineral exploration, geotechnical investigation, geothermal drilling, and tunnel infrastructure projects.
Our core boxes are divided into two categories: PVC plastic core boxes and ABS thickened core boxes. The regular specifications are compatible with the BQ/NQ/HQ/PQ full series of standard rope core drilling tools, with a core diameter of the standard single section being 1m. They can be stacked and connected to extend, featuring high strength, resistance to bumps, waterproof and corrosion resistance, and are suitable for long-term storage of cores in field mining areas and laboratories.
Corresponding drill tool model & inner slot size
BQ core box: Inner Groove Dimension 36.4mm
NQ core box: Inner Groove Dimension 47.6mm
HQ core box: Inner Groove Dimension 63.5mm
PQ core box: Inner Groove Dimension 85.0mm
Standard size
Single section general length: 1000mm (1 meter), can be customized with 0.5m/1.5m extended versions as needed;
Equipped with partitions and separation slots, it can segment the single-section box to accommodate different depths of rock cores.

Product structure design
-
Integrated long groove cavity
The entire cavity is formed by a single continuous extrusion process, with a long groove that fits the arc shape of the core. The core does not roll or crack, and the original structure of the stratum is completely preserved.
2. End positioning snap-in clips
The front and rear of the box body are equipped with connecting clips, allowing multiple sections of core boxes to seamlessly connect at both ends. The long stratum can be continuously sampled and uniformly placed, keeping the arrangement neat and without scattering.
3. Anti-slip protrusions for stacking
The box body has a concave-convex anti-slip structure on the top and bottom, preventing slipping and overturning when stacked multiple layers, saving storage space in warehouses and field camps.
4. Identification writing area
A large blank identification area is reserved on the outside of the box body. A marker pen can be used to mark the drilling number, depth, lithology, and sampling date, making the archiving clear at a glance.
Core product advantages
-
Thickened high-strength engineering plastic, resistant to drops and impacts
Using a new ABS/PVC raw material for one-piece molding, with sufficient wall thickness, it can withstand drops and compressions during outdoor transportation and truck transfer, and is less likely to crack or deform. Compared to ordinary thin plastic boxes, its service life is increased by more than 3 times;
2. Waterproof and resistant to acid and alkali corrosion, suitable for complex outdoor environments
The plastic material does not absorb water or rust, and can be used in open-air mining areas and damp underground construction sites for a long time. It can resist the corrosion of mud, groundwater, and weak acid rock layer seepage liquids. The core sample will not be damp or contaminated;
3. Strictly matched with DCDMA standard core
The groove body's curvature precisely corresponds to the standard core diameters of BQ/NQ/HQ/PQ. The core fits tightly without any gaps, avoiding damage to the core caused by transportation jolts, ensuring the integrity of the geological sample;
4. Can be spliced and stacked, reducing storage and transportation costs
The front and rear fasteners can be quickly connected, and the core can be stacked in multiple layers longitudinally stably. It occupies less space and can significantly reduce the volume and transportation cost of bulk transportation; idle storage boxes can be nested and stacked to save storage space;
5. Lightweight and easy to carry, reducing labor during field construction
The plastic material is lightweight, with half the weight compared to wooden core boxes. This reduces the burden on exploration personnel during outdoor transportation and well sampling operations. It has no wood thorns and does not absorb water or get moldy, eliminating the need for moisture protection and maintenance;
6. Environmentally friendly and reusable, reducing project material costs
The material has strong toughness and no one-time wear and tear. After the project is completed, it can be recycled and reused for the next drilling project, replacing one-time wooden boxes, and reducing the overall material costs for long-term exploration projects.
