Description
HXQ is an enhanced HQ-standard wireline core drill rod for ultra-deep holes, compliant with international DCDMA standards. With a pipe body size of Φ89×5.6mm, it adopts high-grade alloy steel substrate and precise medium-frequency sectional quenching & tempering on both ends, tailor-made for deep mineral exploration and ultra-deep geological coring with a maximum recommended drilling depth of 2400 meters.
Different from standard HQ and HRQ drill rods, HXQ realizes comprehensive upgrades in wall thickness, raw material, heat treatment and thread reinforcement. It balances ultra-high tensile & torsional strength and high pipe body toughness, suitable for straight deep holes, high-inclination angled holes, fractured hard rock and complex structural formations ranging from 2000m to 2400m. It effectively solves common deep-hole failures including thread breakage, thread tooth collapse and pipe bending fatigue fracture. It is fully compatible with all HQ wireline accessories such as core barrel assembly, overshot, diamond bits and reaming shells.

Product features
1. Extended two-end tempering design for 2400m extra-long drill string
Conventional HQ/HRQ rods are only applicable for holes within 1500m. HXQ features extended heat treatment zones and reinforced threads to withstand the dead weight and massive rotary torque of 2400m drill string. Its thread fatigue service life is increased by 200%, drastically reducing unexpected rod breakage during deep-hole drilling.
2. Optimized 89×5.6 thin-walled structure balancing strength and flushing efficiency
The optimized 5.6mm wall thickness delivers higher load-bearing capacity compared to standard 5.08mm HQ rods. The large 77.8mm inner bore guarantees sufficient flushing fluid flow, smooth cuttings removal and effective cooling for diamond bits, improving net drilling efficiency.
3. Balanced rigidity and toughness for all complex deep-hole formations
The differentiated performance of hardened ends and tough pipe body can resist heavy cutting torque in deep hard rock, as well as bending impact in angled holes, fracture zones and structural formations. It avoids pipe bending and breakage during construction of 2400m deep holes and high-angle inclined holes.
4. Universal standard HQ thread with zero extra accessory replacement cost
The thread is fully interchangeable with all mainstream HQ wireline coring tools on the market. Existing core barrels, overshots, bits and reaming shells can be directly matched. New HXQ and old HQ drill rods can be mixed in use without full set tool replacement, cutting project investment.
5. Anti-corrosion and anti-galling performance for long-term stable downhole operation
Threads are treated with composite nitriding anti-rust coating, resisting corrosion and seizure under long-term immersion in highly mineralized groundwater and acidic mud. Easy breakout is achievable even after long downtime, minimizing construction losses caused by stuck threads and stuck drilling tools.
