From Lab to Rig: Our Drill Bit R&D Team Conducts On-Site Technical Visit

To further enhance field performance and strengthen the closed loop of “R&D – Manufacturing – Application,” the drill bit R&D director of CGE Group Wuxi Drilling Tools Co., Ltd. recently led a technical team to a customer’s active drilling site for a hands-on technical review of our drill bits, drill rods, and drilling tools.

During the visit, the R&D team went directly to the rig floor and held face-to-face technical discussions with site supervisors and operators. Both sides exchanged detailed views on key performance aspects including bit penetration rates in different formations, matrix wear resistance, diamond exposure condition, and drilling parameter matching. On-site personnel provided practical feedback on bit behavior in hard rock and fractured zones, along with valuable suggestions for further improvement.“Great drill bits are not designed behind a desk — they are developed in the field, together with the people who use them,” the R&D director remarked. Technical visits like this not only verify product performance, but also bring real-world demands back to the lab to drive continuous product iteration.
